Kim Sterling-Heflin – Chairwoman of the Board

Kim is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of a small company, Instructional Innovations, LLC, a producer of on-line education for healthcare professionals to improve communication and issues in patient safety. Being the mother of two children with cystic fibrosis, Jordan and Brooke, has provided Kim with over 35 years of experience dealing with hospitals and healthcare professionals to understand the importance of the art of communication in healthcare. Kim has a strong background in the performing arts having won the Ford Foundation Scholarship in the Performing Arts and danced with the San Francisco Ballet Company while attending San Francisco State University. Kim has taught on the fine arts staff of two universities, English Literature to high school juniors, was a Special Assistant to one of Arizona’s governors and is currently Co-Chair of the Avon Program for Women and Justice at the O’Connor House, the family home of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor that has become a center for collaborative consensus to improve issues impacting communities in Arizona.

Ethan Hurley – President

Ethan is a Phoenix native and currently serves as the Portfolio Manager of Alternative Investments for the Montana Board of Investments in Helena, MT. Prior to joining the MBOI, Ethan spent almost 6 years at the Arizona State Retirement System where he helped establish its global private equity and real estate investment platforms. Before that, he spent time in private wealth management, futures trading, structured finance administration and retail stock brokerage. He attended Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, AZ, earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and received his MBA from Thunderbird, School of Global Management where he focused on finance. Outside of work Ethan spends time with his wife, Amy, and two sons, Finn and Reef. They are all passionate about live music, hiking, fly fishing, playing golf, skiing and visiting with friends and family.

Andy Hutchinson – Vice President

A Phoenix native, Andy attended Brophy College Preparatory with Jordan. Andy lives in Chicago with his wife and two sons, and is a finance attorney with an international law firm. He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix and Georgetown University Law Center, and is a member of the Illinois and New York bars.

Dierks Bentley – Vice President

Dierks grew up in Phoenix and attended Vanderbilt University. Currently a country music sensation, with several Grammy nominations to his credit, Dierks follows the beat of his own drum and initially cut his teeth in the industry working for The Nashville Network researching country music and playing small bars in and around Nashville. Dierks lives in Nashville with his wife, Cassidy, and their daughter, Evalyn or Evie for short.

Brooke Sterling – Vice President

Brooke is Jordan’s older sister and in addition to being certified as a Bikram Instructor since 2000, she is the owner/operator of Bikram Yoga – Phoenix. Also diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, one of Brooke’s main goals is to be part of the effort to increase the awareness of the healing powers of yoga, which she largely attributes to her state of well-being.

Brian Frakes – Treasurer

As a Principal of WDP Partners, a developer and manager of major retail projects in metropolitan Phoenix and the southwest United States, Brian is responsible for identifying, acquiring and managing development projects. Brian is a native of Arizona, attended Brophy College Preparatory, graduated with a BS from the University of Arizona and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, Pinal Partnership and The Thunderbirds.

Matt Burbach – Secretary

Matt grew up in Phoenix and attended Brophy College Preparatory and Santa Clara University with Jordan. Currently, Matt is a real estate and construction attorney at Lewis and Roca LLP and lives with his wife, Karin, and children, Bryn and Graham, in central Phoenix.
