Principles and Code of Ethics

I. Execute the foundation’s mission and strategy in a manner which perpetually upholds and honors Jordan’s spirit and memory

II. Treat with respect, compassion and fairness all people living with cystic fibrosis

III. Provide for a Board of Trustees that has the requisite skills and dedication to carry out the foundation’s mission effectively and efficiently

IV. Ensure that all conflicts of interest, perceived or real, are avoided or appropriately managed through disclosure, recusal or other means

V. Ensure that the foundation conducts transactions and dealings with integrity and honesty

VI. Ensure that the policies and procedures of the foundation are in writing, clearly articulated, officially adopted and available for public consumption

VII. Steward the resources of the foundation in a responsible and prudent manner


Donor Bill of Rights

I. To be informed of the Jordan Sterling Foundation’s mission, of the way the Jordan Sterling Foundation intends to use donated resources and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

II. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the Jordan Sterling Foundation’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

III. To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.

IV. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

V. To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.

VI. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.

VII. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing the Jordan Sterling Foundation will be professional in nature.

VIII. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers or employees of the organization. The Jordan Sterling Foundation does not hire outside paid solicitors.

IX. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists.

X. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.


Moreover, the Jordan Sterling Foundation represents and warrants that it will uphold the strictest levels of donor privacy with regard to the stewardship of its donors' personal information and thus guarantees never to engage in the selling or trading of their personal information to other charities, similar organizations or other for profit entities, nor will we send mailings or engage in other solicitation activities on behalf of other organizations.
